This week

It looks like there are no races on Saturday.

The Buck Mountain Half-Marathon and Mini-Marathon are on Sunday, the 12th. All race proceeds go to UVA Hospital’s “Diapers for Low-Income Families” program. There's no official race fee, but donations are accepted. Here's the race form:

When and where are you running this week? We're meeting at 8am at the Pavilion again on Saturday. Distances to be determined--we base it on who shows up and how people are feeling.

I like to take advantage of running away from the track before 10-miler training starts (Oct 25th). Post your thoughts in the comments section.

Does anyone have experience with the 10 Miler training program after doing the Women's Four Miler training program? I like the idea of a new training program in general, but 10 miles makes me nervous!

Most of my running group has done the training. Some of us are group captains. It's much smaller than 4-miler and there are four groups. Which group you get assigned is based on your current mileage and your race goals. You'll want to go to Ragged Mountain Running and fill out a survey, so they can put in the right group.

The idea of 10 made me nervous the first time, too. It's pretty cool. You'll be surprised at what you can do. And if you have any issues along the way, you are encouraged to talk to Mark. He runs a great program.

I'll be there at the first week, so we can chat.

Email me if you have any questions or concerns.
